About Us


The Alabama Civil War Round Table was founded in 1990 by a group of Civil War History enthusiasts, and has grown to a membership of over 80+. We discuss anything and everything that pertains to the American Civil War such as:

Civil War Round Table Soldiers
Civil War Round Table Tactics
Civil War Round Table Generals
Civil War Round Table Medicine
Civil War Round Table Weaponry

You name it, we have had a speaker on it in our 20 years of meetings.

Our meetings are held on the second Thursday of the month at:


The Hyatt Place Hotel which is located at 2980 John Hawkins Parkway in Hoover, AL (see map).


* We have eight (11) meetings a year. We do not have a meeting in the month of December.

Our meeting time is at 7:00 P.M. unless posted otherwise on the Home Page. The first 15 minutes pertains to club business, and then we have a speaker from 7:15 until 8:00pm. Visitors are welcomed.

Answer to Trivia Question:

With some exceptions, Federal forces tended to name battles for the nearest body of water, while the Confederates named battles after the nearest community-practices which gave some battles more than one name, like Bull Run/Manassas and Antietam/Sharpsburg.
